Having been struck by Skobud's comment in regards to his Marine deployment, which seems to have been spent at Dead shows, I thought, "Well, now, that wouldn't have been a bad recruiting tool. 'The Marines: Be at All the Dead Shows You Can Be!'"

It turns out there really was quite an interesting music video intended as a recruiting tool for the Navy.

I dunno, I'm having a hard time picturing these guys on Mando's sub.

Seriously, the Navy thought this was a cool RECRUITING VIDEO? Guess ya hadda be there to get the IT of the why they'd think that ...

And it was in precisely this cultural atmosphere that Our Favorite Boys, having seen the psychedelic '60s pass into uncool memory, thought that the cover of Go To Heaven was exactly the right way to project an up-to-date image and prove they weren't irrelevant dinosaurs.

Think of how much worse it could have been.

No. None. Worst ever.

Even worse thought: How did the others react? Did they actually LIKE it? "Hey, Weir. Saw your new music video. Fantastic. Terrific. Best ever."

At least he wasn't trying to be the Eurhythmics or Culture Club.

Oh no. Are we supposed to be going somewhere with our posts? I must have missed that memo. I just think it's hilarious.

So is that Pepto guitar. Is that for real?!? I mean, it seems to be, since it's in a book and all, but did he really play it? Like, a lot?

Yes, he did. A lot. Late 80s fad I think. Im sure someone
else will chime in on this matter (hope)...
Of course he wore these at the same time and still managed
to have girls follow him:
Have to tell ya: standing next to that thing did NOT
settle my stomach...

And the memo that was passed around was printed on this:

(So maybe thats why you dont remember).
Where was I going in this post????
